The article is missing an important detail, why did the sewer block? Was it a case of misuse by the local residents or is there a structural defect in the sewer.
Because this is what the side effect of plans to improve rivers by the current opposition in England will achieve instead?

I went to high school in Feldy in the 80s the streets were paved with shit then too…
