71 year old woman visiting Barmouth to see friends.
Gets a bit pissed (possibly an understatement).
Mistakes this man’s house for her B&B. In she goes with her suitcase. Finds a room, goes to sleep.
The homeowner finds her and goes ballistic. Drags her downstairs by her ankles. Stamps on her. In the street.
Chucks her suitcase after her. Laughs at her while she tries to gather her possessions.
Multiple serious injuries which lead to her dying on the scene. Described as like a victim of a a “high speed road traffic collision”.
Apparently she weighed 7.5 stone.
What a mental reaction from the homeowner.
I get being scared that somebody has gone into your home but this is such an overreaction she was a tiny old drunk lady who fell asleep in the wrong room…she isn’t a threat especially not to a 6ft 1 22 stone 46 year old man
I think “self confessed anger management issues” is an understatement. His response was not reasonable or proportionate.
How sad, poor lady, I hope she was still drunk and didn’t feel any of it.
I think that might be stretching “reasonable force” a bit thin, somehow. Had he just physically removed her and her belongings and she’d died of exposure or something then he might have been okay.
What a horrible story and a horrible man – RIP to this poor lady 💐
Sounds like murder to me. Lock this horrible cunt up for 20+ years for this. Disgusting behaviour.
What is wrong with people around here. The amount of violence related news seems to have climbed a lot since the pandemic years.
Because calling the cops on a passed out old lady would have been too much of a bother?
The man is a fucking sociopath. I’m 5 foot 3 90 something lbs and I wouldn’t react anywhere near that intensely to finding a frail old woman in my house. I’d assume she had dementia and made a mistake, as I imagine any other normal person would do.
Woman just wanted to drink some gin in bed, so he beat her to death.
He says she lunged at his girlfriend so he attacked her in self defence- she was half dressed, 71 years old and was 1/3 of his size.
He needs to be locked up. His ‘self confessed anger issues’ are just him trying to excuse himself. As he laughed it sounds like he enjoyed it.
Sickening.
Overreaction, laughing at a 71 year old woman and stamping on her, should never be allowed out.
How insane!!!!!! How is this an appropriate reaction & response to an old female stranger sleeping in your house!!!????
I don’t know why, maybe I’m hormonal, but this really got to me. The thought of being dragged down stairs by your ankle and stamped on so hard that your liver ruptures and your ribs and neck end up fractured is so upsetting. She must have been so confused and delirious trying to gather her things up with those injuries, and in considerable pain too.
Stamping on someone just seems so incredibly visceral and painful for the victim. I think it’s because to stamp on someone they already need to be relatively disarmed and vulnerable.
Dude seems unhinged and dangerous.
The man is obviously a psychopath. Also, how the hell did she get inside in the first place?
There’s such a thing as proportional response… while I think I would have requested the woman leave. I am unsure of the mental steps required to first dragging a person down the stairs by their ankles and the violently assaulting them in the street.
The type of thought process that requires prison time, that’s for sure.
I can understand being surprised, but there’s no threat and no need to respond with violence.
She’s an old woman! Imagine stomping your grandmother to death. Christ.
What harm did she actually cause, aside from a little mess and some dirty bed linens?
This is just distressing to read about. I don’t want people like this in my country.
This guy is going to have nothing to stand on in court.
I have a Law degree, and I’d basically just say:
“This elderly woman was unconscious and unable to pose a threat against you, yet you decided to voraciously beat her to death instead of calling the police, which would be the most appropriate legal route. Furthermore, your laughter showed, not only enjoyment, but no state of fear that would be a defence for such a violent assault.”.
If he’s been charged with murder and is on trial for that charge, I assume the CPS has the same mindset since they’re quite cautious with murder charges.
Fucking idiot, hope he’s put under the prison.
They’ve got that right. He is just a violent bully. If I walked into my bedroom and an old woman was sat there, I would definitely be shocked and have a fright! But anyone who A) lives in a tourist area by the sea B) lives up the road from a BandB C) Sees her suitcase next to her, or ANYONE, living ANYWHERE would deduce what was happening and solve the mystery within under one minute! I reckon he saw her there and decided “well, she’s in MY house! I’ll get away with doing anything here!”. Then killed the poor old lady. Disgusting, violent bully.
How did she even manage to get into the house? Who keeps their door unlocked in a tourist town anyway?
Obviously she was drunk but didn’t she notice that there was no reception area to check into? How did she know what room to go to?
If she hadn’t stayed there before (Obviously) why would she just walk into what she thought was a new b&b and go to a room without checking in, getting a key, anything of that nature.
That’s heartbreaking, imagine her being your mother… I’m normally unfazed by those kind of news, but this one struck something in me. Fuck.
“Self Confessed Anger Management Issues” is what schoolkids use as an excuse for shitty behaviour, they’ll do something horrible and say “I’ve got anger management” to try and excuse their actions but anyone with half a brain knows they’re just horrible people, being an adult trying to justify horrific behaviour like this is extremely questionable and I wouldn’t be surprised for a second if he has had a past of unreported violence or shite behaviour in general
This is extremely sad, a sane person would’ve made her aware of the situation by asking if she knew where she was and if she was okay before breaking the news to her that she’s in the wrong house, ask her if she fancies a cuppa or something before sending her off on her way to the B&B, maybe even let her stay for the night and take the sofa or something, this man needs locking up and for a very long time
I would have just let her sleep make her breakfast and charge her 30 quid.
People are loonies at the moment.
>Redfern was heard saying: “It probably didn’t do her the world of good me dragging her down the stairs by her ankles.” Later, he told police she had been aggressive to him.
Oh a 71 year old, 7 stone woman was “aggressive” to you, so you decided to beat her to death?
Fucking scumbag.
I can’t believe how angry this article made me, and I still wouldn’t stamp on a little old lady
> Well, yeah, I dragged her down the stairs, then stamped on her violently, bursting her internal organs… But I didn’t murder her!
Wtf??
One night many years go a very drunk man did the same thing at my mums house – my sister woke up with him in the bed opposite hers .
She came and woke me up. I got him down the stairs he was very confused. It was a freezing icy night and I did not want to put him out on the street so called the police to help us.
Turned out his house was the exact same place on the street but coming from the opposite side. So he thought he was being kicked out of his own house.
He came and apologised the next day absolutely mortified.
That’s all that happened.
This is fucking horrendous .
I can understand using force against a threatening home invader, but a little old lady that’s fallen asleep in one of your rooms? That’s a call 999 and ask someone to help her find her way home jobby. What a psychopath this guy is.
That poor lady. In the article the pictures of the man’s house inside really does look like a hotel so you can see how she made the mistake. Also for some reason the description of her pulling a small suitcase on wheels makes me feel really sad. Poor, poor lady. What an awful fuckhead of a man.
