This headline makes it sound like the UK have suddenly started allowing massive levels of arsenic in baby food, however the EU have just lowered theirs beyond the previous, also safe, level. And the UK might lower ours to match.
>The UK government is emphasising that these GB-produced products are still safe and has not ruled out adjusting its rules so they are similar to the EU.
>A spokesperson said: “The UK will always maintain strong rules on arsenic levels, and keep our position under very close review.”
Bit of a clickbaity title from the BBC there.
Why is there any arsenic in baby food? Or in any food come to that
That’s a clear typo as I am on a phone ! Read agent , now it you are applying a conspiracy approach to choice of words . Yes they are a public body as you describe and right now they are without doubt being manipulated by members of the administration, corrupting their impartiality.
There is an end game at play and that’s the defunding of the corporation .
Now here is something that I probably ( if a lefty) agree with in its present form , however not for reasons of political bias , or associated culture wars.
In the modern multi platform media world a state broadcaster ( one with a long record of nepotism across all strata’s) and one with a shed load of regional radio stations with pathetic listener numbers is in need of some amputation .
I would say the BBC should be focused on delivery of national terrestrial TV and good solid journalism and just the 4 national radio stations , and the world service ( that is funded separately from the license fee anyway)
They have little or no place in local radio and I wouldn’t be averse to genuine advertising and even some subscription services .
Another brexit benefit being allowed to poison babies.

[We need Victorian values](https://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/HistoryofBritain/Dying-for-Humbug-the-Bradford-Sweets-Poisoning-1858/) for arsenic in food…
