Because it gets attention and the media keep giving her more.
> Her latest novel features a serial killer who dresses in women’s clothing, continuing the transphobic tradition of such films as Psycho, Dressed to Kill, and Silence of the Lambs.
Urgh, why won’t she stop? Doesn’t she know that she’s been cancelled
I’m not a fan of Rowling or her views but I’m also not a fan of this article’s writer, Noah Berlatsky, [who has worked with Prostasia](https://twitter.com/nberlat/status/1379106386181754889) and used to be their Communications Director. [Prostasia advocates for pedophiles](https://www.prostasia.info/) (or as it calls them, “minor-attracted people”) to be included in the LGBT community and has argued for the age of consent to be abolished.
It’s a wonderful grift that’s why. After all here’s an author who’s best days are well behind them; she’s obviously never going to write anything as popular as the Harry Potter series ever again and unlike other beloved children’s authors she’s basically got no ideas outside of wizards and grumpy cops it seems. So her career in that field is basically over.
But now she’s got this new ‘side-hustle’ as an anti-trans activist she’s the most relevant she’s been for years. She’s international news, people are talking about her all over the world and for every 10 fans she loses due to her TERFery she gains at least 1 *’woman won’t we shit’* type and a right-wing contrarian – who, in 2002, was probably accusing her of being a satanist, [this was a thing that actually happened](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_debates_over_the_Harry_Potter_series#Evangelicalism) – willing to give her money to make a prat of herself online over and over again.
I think it’s because she has strong convictions and believes it’s an important conversation. Not hard to understand really. Also wine.
