Don’t forget. If you are ordering through a separate delivery service there is also a €1-€2 charge hidden in each item you order.
Can you not just ring the restaurant itself and order that way?
Laziness has a charge
Looking at the fees fee: €7
just cook at home and let the overpriced junk food die … not a big loss anyway..
You can cook a meal for €6
Which site is this?
Delivery fees have gone mental lately… hardly ever order anymore
Both Just Eat and Uber Eats randomly sent me notifications today for €6 off meals. I guess now I know why.
Reddit Ireland now has €1 fee to comment
You’ve been had, someone has you now, you dont have yourself anymore
6 euro for food delivery do you realise how expensive fuel road tax and insurance is in Ireland think again before you text lol
I’ve resorted to driving to pick up takeaway now. Works out cheaper and you can visit places that don’t do home delivery too. Win-win. Cuts out the middle man service.
its expensive but coming from Norway this is just closer to what i grew up with.. in Norway the delivery charge was between 6-12 euro in the 90s.. its more expensive now… But we are very anti ordering take out society… i was so excited when i moved here and saw some places had deliveries as low as 2 euro… i never understood how they made money that way but hey im not going to complain.
Don’t understand the order picker charge from Tesco as well. Are they not paid a wage?
Vote with your feet. Or fingers on the keyboard in this case.
€6 delivery fee for a pizza chain in dunshaughlin. That’s the local delivery charge. That’s one way to stop drivers getting a tip.
I am of the right that, they are bumping up the fees so that drivers get paid better. Am I wrong, or are these companies just increasing their profits? Of it’s the latter then I’m ok with it, tis just the price of laziness!
I posted this in the wrong thread about 30 minutes ago..
Don’t forget, if Flipdish is on the site, you will get charged even more at checkout. Service fees, and processing fees, and delivery is usually higher.
I was reading about ‘sticky inflation’ and the high prices that are set, and the people that pay them, keeping inflation around for longer etc. Among those non-necessity products that are all over priced, are non-necessity food orders..
I was ordering a takeaway tonight, felt like something different, couldn’t think what, so I decided to browse all the places that deliver to me (I use google and ‘**takeaway delivery in MYTOWN -just-eat -tripadvisor -yelp -restaurantguru -marvin**’ to avoid the crap and the extra charges) I found out that:
Most Chinese takeaways that deliver to me, now charge €14 – €15 just for the sauce.
€1 for chicken, €1.50 for shredded chicken, €1.50 for duck, €1.75 for beef, €2.25 for prawns, €4 for ‘house special’ or €5 for fillet of beef.
Fried rice is +€1.50, Chips +€1, Noodles €2.50 and so on. Then the cheapest delivery is €3
Who the fuck is paying all of these extra charges and encouraging them? That is crazy. Delivery should be free or at most €1.
The meal should be priced as one, all this fucking about with which meat or veg, which side etc..
I gave up in the end annoyed. I had looked at the other takeaways and they are all overpriced shite now too. Apache Pizza is the cheapest pizza with their online code, not cheap.
/Rant
I found a chicken burger in the freezer and I have some spuds for the fryer.
There’s a kebab place in naas that costs €5.50 delivery + 50c service fee. A fucking kebab costs €8.95 so imagine paying €6 for delivery in that case
Just get off your hole and pick it up yourself.
a literal human is bringing your ass food, pay them
It’s disgusting, when just eat started they wanted you to use it and without a fee. Then it took and off and suddenly lots of charges. Some places it used to be free delivery after minimum spend. Now it’s min spend + processing fee + delivery. Country is ruined but someone else is always making Money.
Edit: I was a huge fan of €10 min delivery and no delivery charge now every order is basically €20 min. If I wasn’t lazy I’d cook but I forget I’m hungry then it gets late and it’s like cook or wait for the knock on the door
Remember when the driver’s fee was covered in the cost of the food?
These 3rd party delivery services are rip offs…30% cut from the restaurant… so the restaurant ups the price by 40% to compensate for their losses…
E.g in store it costs €10
On deliveroo it costs €14
4.67€ goes to deliveroo so the restaurant gets 9.33€
And thats if the restaurant is good to you.
Moral of the story… learn to cook
Very easy solution, use your feet and walk or cycle to the place you lazy ass
The lazy bastards will complain but will still pay the €6 because they wouldn’t even think of walking or cycling
Just Eat have raised prices as well for the takeaway ‘retailer as well. I’m a delivery driver. Boss got rid of Just Eat this week as they’ve gone ridiculously expensive. She got rid of them during covid as they were ramping up their menu prices online for the customer and she didn’t want that. But eventually went back. No going back this time. Just eat are a snake in the grass. Cheaper to ring takeaway for delivery or use another app than Just Eat.
All these apps like just eat and free now for cabs were amazing when they first came along. Now they are just having a complete laugh with added fees.
The simple cheat is to call the restaurant. Many offer delivery and dont have service fees. On top of this, the food is cheaper I’d you bypass the apps. They get charged a 10 or 20% fee from just eat so they up the prices to accommodate this. Cheaper If we just go back to how it was and ditch the money grabbing apps
Takeaway I work in is €3.50 delivery. Around this small town, I can do 5 deliveries in about 20 mins. Lately we’re getting more deliveries outside the town, like 8/10 miles outside so that can take 10 minutes to get there and 10 minutes back and we’d charge €10 delivery, and quite often order itself is only €10 or €12. So driver loses money doing long deliveries as its taking 20 minutes to do one order where if in town, driver could make €17.50 in the same time. If you call your takeaway for an order at least you’ll only be charged delivery fee. With apps your charged delivery plus service charge plus they add on prices to the takeaways menu. So for example, you call takeaway place order for €10 and delivery €3.50, total €13.50. Smae order with Just Eat would be closer to €16.
How many more fucking fees are they going to add on? next they’ll have a “ring the door bell fee”
what app or restaurant is this
Why broken down to 3 items? Just say “fee” damn it
Standard and expected.
Convenience = Profit
i live close to the takeaway i usually order from, so I’ll do the 1 minute drive there myself to pick up myself
These apps are a scam and making the countries they operate in fatter and fatter it’s a ticking time bomb.
Dont use the apps. Ring the place directly, pick it up , or order through their website if they have it. That’s outrageously bad to have 3 fees.
Sad thing is the new fees prob aren’t going to the deliverers either
