What a weird post lol. Like this is something a 15 year old would make.
“Lol just burn enough shit and the mob (good guys I agree with) will win every single time!!!! No way this could ever be used against us!!!!”
The French know how to protest.
The British strikes have forced the government to come to the negotiation table quite a lot now. In contrast, Macron doesn’t seem like he is going to give in.
Anyone care to share footage of the Poll Tax riot? Given leaders like Mrs Thatcher we are quite capable of serious protest.
Us Brits never had a proper revolution
Something like 80% of french people are against the current pension reform. I dont know where you get your 10k number, but provided people have been striking everywhere and that where I lived at the time the strikes in one city were around 50k people, Id say you’re extremely ill informed.
Im too lazy to search the numbers rn, but Id happily do so if needed. Those riots are not a thing of a small minority. There is a good chance sthg like half of the French supports it.
So is it democratic or anti democratic? Because I’m so lost at the western values rn.
Tens of thousands ? Man, even the police was talking about hundreds of thousands of people in Paris alone
Both equally ineffective, but at least the British protest leaves less mess to clean up after its all over and nothing has changed.
Except that the British giv often gave into the demands, whilst Macron is renowned for sitting out the protests and do what he wants anyway.
My takeaway? The French go to protest with spicy cocktails in one hand and lit Gauloises in the other; while the Brits try to overthrow the government with sharp rejoinders…
This post is classic /r/europe. Let’s use the protests in France to imply somehow Britain is inferior.
No comparison to protests in Germany, Belgium, or The Netherlands. No, we must use this opportunity to compare to Britain.
As based as it is biased. I don’t know why people here are so in love with the french protestors. Destroying properties owned by people and institutions that have nothing to do with the President is not cool and never will be.
Well, in France we started with 2-3millions people in the street protesting peacefully. But Macron didn’t care at all, even if this was the largest protest in 40years.
So people have to find other ways to be heard by our king .
Edit:
The only time Macron heard the protest (and did something) in France was the yellow jacket and the main reason was because the country was burning down.
How is the agreeing to demands part going? Pension reform is surely withdrawn and government collapsed under people’s pressure, yes??
Who published this article?
The UK is already going to shit and these half a million people were actively trying to make it better. There’s no sense in burning your home town and leaving piles of rubbish everywhere like in Paris.
The phrase ‘cut of your nose to spite your face’ comes to mind.
Terrible comparison but protest in france really do have a tendency to become wild.
Just switch the images and you have British drinking vs French drinking
You spelt English wrong
one gets shit done, the other is ignored.
Your argument is the democratic vote to leave the European Union should be ignored because 500k people in London protested ?
I mean a couple of years ago this was Britain. Not really a truthful picture.
This is so blatantly biased and untrue. Not even talking about numbers but people have been demonstrating peacefully for weeks in France. Since People keep getting ignored, violence starts unfortunately
I bet those nasty terrorist cells aren’t going out anytime soon.. When the French burns down their own city hall, and probably the presidential palace if those weren’t heavily guarded, they know the French people mean business and should not be messed with
Umpopular opinion:
France has one of the lowest pension age’s and with this change it will still be one of the lowest in euorope. It’s inflation rate is also one of the lowest. The point of having a governing boody is making unpopular but maybe understanable decisions that we ourselves as a union couldn’t. This to me mayne seems like one of them.
