  1. Imagine a world where by law chidren have to be somewhere from 8 till 4 where they arent allowed to leave and they dont get fed nutritious food by default.

Personally I remain unconvinced school is less about what it claims to be and more about making children bow to authority and get used to doing overtime and 9-5.

Certainly seems what the tories have tried to make it anyway.

  2. Fucking postcode lottery.

If you’re in Wales, Scotland or London you get free school meals, but not in England or NI.

An average free school meal costs £2.41. That’s £482 a year. There are 5.5 million primary pupils in the UK. That works out to £2.7 billion a year. Less the £900 million we already spend on current free school meals that’s £1.8 billion. That’s a ridiculously small amount for the net benefit of free school meals.

  3. The evidence base to do this is overwhelming – better long term health, better educational achievement, better behavour. All of which saves the country money when costed over a lifetime.
