Imagine an election, where Communists and Liberals, Kemalists and Conservatives, Leftists and Rightists team up against the same authoritarian foe, for the very sake of the country. The 2023 Turkish elections.

  1. And Erdogan will still be reelected. Probably not fairly, but he will still have an extreme majority in the rural areas.

We had the same a year ago (except it was fair)

  2. Best of luck. Hungary has been doing this for the past elections, but it has never worked, sadly.

An opposition win was expected at the last election, but it ended up being a massive victory for Orban. Turns out there were many people who would never vote for Orban, but they would never vote for “that guy” either. And if everyone is involved, than “that guy” is also on the common list.

  3. We had the same unexpected coalition in Russia in 2011, when liberals, leftists and nationalists joined together against Putin. We still lost against a huge mass of idontcareists. Hope that the outcome will be different for Turkey and wish you luck.

  4. I really hope this is true.

Turkey would be such an amazing country once again if it could rid itself of the manifestation of its collective grief.

  5. I fully expect supporters of the right wing parties in the Nation Alliance to vote for Erdoğan because they find Kılıçdaroğlu to be too left wing (which is bullshit). They can’t help it, at the end of the day they just love a strong daddy.

  6. Dam I don’t remember ever seeing so many political parties in one coalition, and with so different ideologies. They really want the guy out this time
