Hello guys, me and my girlfriend are buying a house and we got to the point that I need to get my mortgage. I need residency permit for which I didn’t know. I am from Bulgaria arrived in Poland from the UK after being there for 9 years. That was 2 years ago I do have a PESEL that I that i in Dec 21 and a job for about 2 years.

Found an application on the [gov website](https://www.gov.pl/web/uw-mazowiecki/wymianawydanie-nowego-zaswiadczenia-o-zarejestrowaniu-pobytu-obywatela-ue) that I started filling in. There is a document requiremt from employer which I sent request for but still waiting.

Has anyone been in such situation?
What should I do? Will I be deported?
Is there fines is the process slow and painful I need to sort documents within the next 2 to 3 weeks.

    See point 1 – who does the application form apply to:

    “If you are an EU citizen, intend to stay in Poland and **have a certificate of registration of residence of an EU citizen**.”

    I have no idea what are the consequences of not having registered your stay, but there appears to be a large number of people who are not aware of the requirement.

    And [here](https://www.gov.pl/web/mswia-en/registration-of-residence) is a version in English. It actually says at the bottom that failure to register is punishable by a fine, but does not specify an amount.

    Also, just to clarify, you’re not applying for residence permit (that’s for non-EU nationals), you’re registering your stay in Poland.

  2. You will not get deported, you can get a fine tho since you are illegally staying for 1 year and 9 mo.

    You are not applying for residence permit but for EU citizen registration certificate. Residence permits are only for non-EU citizens.

    A guide on how to apply for EU registration certificate:

    EU citizens do not need to do anything to live and settle in another EU country for less than 90 days What they need to do after 3 months however, is to register with local authorities. The process consists of two parts:

    1) registering your address and obtaining PESEL (pol. Zameldowanie, similiar to german Ammeldung). You do that in the minicipality/city office (pol. urząd gminy/miasta) you live in (district office in case of Warsaw, pol. urząd dzielnicy) by presenting legal rent contract, ownership document or similiar for the address you want to register at. You recieve PESEL on the spot upon successfull registration. After you that for the first time each subsequent change of address you can register online. You have 30 days after arrival to register, if you plan on staying longer than 3 months.     2) in order to legally reside in Poland for a period longer than 3 months (6 if you are actively looking for job), you have to obtain “EU registration certificate”. This is done in the Voivoidship office (pol. urząd wojewódzki) you live in. The application consists of a single form, couple of passport-style photos and attachments that will prove how you will sustain yourself (employment contract, conformation of enrollment to a university or just a bank statement with “sufficent funds” to your name). This is very simple, the form has 2 pages and you basically cannot receive a negative decision if you did everything right.

    You recieve the decision on the spot and a plastic card some 30 days later. Your plastic card is a certificate that you live in poland legally and is issued for 5 years.

  3. Registered my stay after almost 3 years and nobody said anything, never. Indeed, a fine is mentioned but is never applied as ladies from the office told me. There are really a lot of foreigners that fail to comply with the 90 days of “legal” stay.

    Just go to the office and be honest and everything will end 100% without a fine. No worries, really 😃
