  1. Makes sense, the requirements & timelines didn’t really add up for it to be anything other than SSN(R) – if we get the benefit of access to some extra US tech transfer its win win really (especially if you are a BAE Systems shareholder!)

  2. As bad as things are looking for British businesses, our defence sector is still a contender for the best on the planet, so companies will happily pay more for British technology. It is at least some good news for once and it keeps people in jobs that little bit longer.

  3. Nice. We should be supporting and working with countries who are practically our cousins.

Times getting dangerous and time to stand united, assist and support each other’s.

  4. The Astute replacement submarine is going ti built first for Australia. In 30 years time when the Royal Navy replaces the Astutes, it will be an improved version of the Australian submarine. “Winner, winner, chicken dinner!”

  5. Nice, I take it the Royal Navy will also procure several of these new submarines to reinforce our Nuclear powered attack submarine fleet, in addition to exporting to Australia?
