Is this legal? (numberplate)

  1. Probably since you see it now and then. It´s kind of dumb, but all right.

I always wondered why there are some GB cars that have UK next to the license plate. I thought GB was the the right way.

  2. Rules or not, no one is going to care or force it. Sometimes this is bad, but for minor things I like things less strict. I think thnk is dumb, but let´s be chill 🙂

  3. Legal? No.
Do I care what someone else puts on his/her car? No. I’m not a cop. As long as my car is technically and legally ok I’m happy. Don’t let 2 characters on someone else’s car trigger you.

  4. Legal? no

    Fun fact:

Some ANPR systems start the recognition process of a plate by reading the countrycode. If this fails, the process stops. I know this is the case on cheaper ANPR systems used in some parking garages and this could sometimes allow you to get free parking. Not sure how more advanced systems work.

  5. Taking a picture while driving? Nope, not legal. This could have been a text post as well. Leave your phone the fuck alone.

(In b4 people saying “maybe it was the passenger”. The angle says otherwise).

  6. Legal no. But as most car drivers doing illegal things, it will go unpunished.

  7. This breaks laws and conventions but mainly for cross border travel. If they go to NL the Dutch police will stop and fine them.

    EU No 2411/98
“Member States requiring vehicles registered in another Member State to display a distinguishing registration sign when they are being driven on their territory shall recognise the distinguishing sign of the Member State of registration displayed on the extreme left of the registration plate in accordance with the Annex to this Regulation as being equivalent to any other distinguishing sign that they recognise for the purpose of identifying the State in which the vehicle is registered.”

The member state is Belgium and as ratified by the Geneva Convention on road traffic the symbol is B.

I had one of these fuckwits parking in front of my previous house and got irritated.

    Wikipedia mentions them.
“There are unofficial codes in common use, such as “AS” for Asturias, “CAT” for Catalonia, “SCO” for Scotland, “CYM” for Wales (Welsh Cymru), “BZH” for Brittany (Breizh), “VL” for Flanders (Vlaanderen), “V” for Vojvodina/Vajdaság, “TS” for Transylvania, “P” for Palestine, “PR” for Puerto Rico, “CSB” for Kashubia (Cassubia) and “SIC” for Székely Land (from Latin Terra Siculorum). Some of these, such as “VL” which is used by Flemish separatists, are used despite being specifically illegal under local laws.”

-Verschil in grondbelasting w of V

  10. I had a friend in Leuven who was a french speaking Flemming, he’d always remove VL stickers when he saw them on parked cars.

  11. They sometimes call lottery “the tax on the stupid”, well getting caught with something like this should be called “the tax on the stupidest of the stupid”
