  1. Yeah people need to be somewhat aware of this surveillance capitalism the capturing and monetisation of personal data used by companies that can in turn be used by States for economic espionage. AI already controls us in some way it’s just not the way one might have imagined. Algorithms can exploit our preferences for profit by agenda setting, cherry picking and click bait amongst other things. It can lead to algorithmic radicalisation which can steer users to more extreme content as well as deviancy amplification spiral which is phenomenon where there are a increase in reports of anti social behaviour and violence. It can lead to a us vs them or good vs evil mentality and eventually a argument culture where people default to being adverse when faced with an opposing view. This in turn can shift the Overton windows to the extremes of a society and eventually lead to mistrust of others within the society. One believes things because one has been conditioned to believe them, to make a obvious example no baby boy or girl is born xenophobic it’s something as any social construct that’s taught from an early age.
