It’s starting to feel like spring!

  1. We have this proverb in Finland “Älä nuolaise, ennen kuin tipahtaa.” and it fits here perfectly.

  2. It’s madness to talk about spring in March. This is the best month of the year in my opinion, when the brightness takes over from the darkness and with such force. From clean snow the sunshine feels like it amplifies! Hasn’t been once or twice I’ve burnt my skin in winter.

Hmmm… makes me wanna start my snowmobile, head out to heartlands to see what’s up in the wilderness.

  3. Spring my ass, -7/-10 degrees and over 20cm snow in couple of days. All is covered by ice and then loska, and then again ice that you can’t see because stupid new snow.

I am sick of it hahaha

  4. a week ago i took a picture of “this is the last day for x-country skiing this year!!!) the next 3 days the snow melted a ton and the bike paths were clear. I’m sure the ski trail was unskiable for a week or so.

then yesterday i go to bike the “clear trail to the swimming pool” and there was a good layer of snow over uneven, hard to bike ice with ruts. (the ruts made it a challenge at times to not fall).

so yeah… today i’ll check the ski track to have another “last ski of the year” 😛

  5. I’ve been passed out with fever for a few days and woke up to yet another umph of snow. Was finally visible pavement and definitely more of a “winter is melting” vibe. This time of year is…complex. lol

    I love it here!!

  6. “Kevät keikkuen tulevi” is probably at least in the top 3 of all traditional Finnish sayings in my books. So very descriptive indeed, “the spring cometh a-swaying” or something like that in English.

  7. After getting a cat and starting a work as a college teacher, I feel much more equipped to deal with Finnish weather changes.

Whatever plans I made for tomorrow or even the next hour, they are gonna change. So better just accept it and go with the flow.
