Is there anything to be said for saying another mass?
Oh well, I guess this cherry-picked graph proves that the struggles I see and experience daily are imaginary.
Despite the doom and gloom and massed outrage in the media/social media, life for most of Ireland is pretty good at the moment.
The rental eviction ban ending is bad news for about 3k-8k people depending on who’s figures you believe but its a positive for an almost equal number of people who now get to dispose of/move into/do whatever else with their property.
The Health service is inefficient and over worked at the frontline level but we still have very good outcomes from treatment and there is no risk of going bankrupt cos you broke your arm.
Despite the social housing shortage we do still have one of the strongest social safety nets in world with generous training and upskilling schemes.
In short, the number of people affected by any of these issues combined is probably under 20% of the country so a poll showing that 80% of country thinks their life is good is probably accurate.
Stupid graph with a stupid question ~~that does not support your assertion~~. It’s entirely rational for someone to happy with their general outlook on how their life is going and at the same time to be unhappy with the housing and health crises even if these are not directly impacting them.
And it’s also possible to be directly impacted these one or both of these problems but still be positive, eg you might be strlugging to pay rent but moving upwards with career/relationship/family etc.
what ! Social media is not the heart beat of society and a true reflection of reality 🤬🤬🤬 How are we going to get through the day

Acknowledging that you live in a pretty privileged country that has had unbelievable development in the last 40 years doesn’t mean you don’t want to fix the issues that remain.
It’s the people with an inability to balance their opinions that puzzle me – everything either has to be the worst thing ever (which it clearly isn’t) or absolutely perfect (which it also clearly isn’t).
Ireland punches above its weight. My issue is with our government, FF and FG governments being completely passive, they don’t want to do anything that could cause any particular group to be upset so they end up doing nothing. They keep talking about doing something, they form groups they delay and then it’s someone else’s problem and they go back to the start and go through the promises all over again.
Ireland feels like it’s just ticking over, it’s propped up by the hard work of the people, but I think we’re capable of much more if we had a government who’d actually do something.
Perun makes some fantastic content, if you are interested in the war in Ukraine his content is top notch.
To say a country is going in the right direction is a bit of an abstract concept. Going in the right direction since which point in time? Obviously things get better as time progresses. I doubt there is a country in the world that’s worse off today than it was 25 years ago.
Pretty incredible to see considering things like that we are at, or near, record high levels of people lying on trolleys, languishing on hospital waiting lists, homeless, in precarious housing and so on.
But I guess you’re basically laughing if you’re not sick and own your own home so that explains why I guess.
We sure do hate to cause a fuss
When is this from?
I believe Irish people about 7 billion euro per year on foreign holidays.
Not to be an ass but who is the “we” the OP and everyone is referring to. Just because you aren’t happy, doesn’t mean everyone else is. I never fully trust these kinds of opinion polls but there is an element of truth to them clearly.
well for poland and portugal, portugal has been in one of the worst recessions in europe is still struggling, poland is also pretty conservative and has a right wing government
