So, Bought a new home and have a problem was replacing the wallpaper of my home and was removing the old paper and noticed a silver foil/paper under it. (See picture) so what is that? It is a home from 1960 it is only on a small part of the wall around two meters and 3 meter high the rest of the wals don’t have it (see picture) The silver is stuck to the wallpaper. Any answer would be great!

it is a solution homeowners looking to sell use to hide damp in the wall behind the wallpaper

it is also a “solution” to reduce condensation on the wall surface and when placed behind the radiator, heat loss from the radiator, but it is not very effective in either of those roles
I’ve never seen that kind of paper BEHIND wallpaper. Better check that wall for humidity.
I know it’s off topic but I’m curious. If you don’t mind me asking, was there an asbestos survey done before the sale?
Behind that wall, is there the central heating source?
