Was he disrespectful to not take the bag off for his interview with the President?

  1. I understand he wants to maintain his anonymity with the bag (laughable in the social media age where his real identity is just a Google search away) but could he not show a bit of decorum by removing the bag to speak with the President? It’s not as if the interview was recorded for TV broadcast. It was for a podcast where nobody could see him anyway. The bag is childish, distracting, and removes facial expressions and social cues from conversation. Not to mention this lad is almost middle aged. I won’t even get started on the scruffy hoody and combat pants…

  2. I doubt Michael D Higgins cares so you shouldn’t either. He has always had an interest and been a patron of the various arts so I doubt a guy wearing a bag offends him in any way.

  3. Used to really like blindboy but maybe two or three years ago his filler material went from comedy to incoherent ramblings. I was chatting about him with a female friend who is a social worker and would have far more knowledge about mental health than i and how we should approach people presenting with issues of any kind.
Her view of blind boy was an eye opener, his opinion of people with issues very often goes into passive aggressive statements, calling people children or child like is often taken as an insult an just not the done thing, certainly not a professional approach.
I was interested in heading to see him live but she said not to bother, while some of his guests were excellent, large swaths of his performances were filled by uncomfortable silences where his laugh was inexplicably forced. There’s a touch of a god complex in him, he just un nerves me now but that said he has done a lot to bring mental health issues into the spotlight, good with the bad I suppose
