The Irish diaspora and minority groups here to be key focus of new garda recruitment drive

  1. Fine Gaels policies have driven so many young Irish people away. First it was nurses and now Fine Gael are begging more young people to come home and help other struggling public services.

  2. I dont care what race, ethnicity or gender the gardai have.

The issue EVERYONE has, is they’re fucking never around!

Plus, the fact that they refuse regular drug tests and fitness tests. Joke of a profession.

  3. I think diversity is the least of their problems, but if they can actually recruit any new officers, regardless of community, great.

  4. Ah yes, all those young Irish people who left due to severe disillusionment at the lack of opportunities to actually build a life here will come home in their droves for a barely livable starting wage and a year and a half of a subsistence allowance while training to be working irregular hours, god knows how much overtime every week to just stand in one spot in a luminous jacket for hours and regularly receive abuse from utter vermin who your colleagues have probably arrested and ran through the courts hundreds of times already.

  5. Come back home to live with your parents again, or pay 50%+ of your net on rent to share with multiple other desperate strangers riddled with the anxious worries about the landlord issuing an eviction notice. And enjoy your shifts where you’re potentially dealing with the absolute scum of the earth with countless convictions because of our failure of a judicial system. There’ll surely be plenty of uptake!

  6. Coming home from Aus to live in a house share or with the parents until they die to maybe inherit a house. Grim.

When the fuck are these uneducated, out of touch, entitled thick cunts going to realise that the cost of housing for renters is insane in this country and that 40k for 60+ hrs per week isn’t going to cut it.

You need to be offering much closer to 100k/year before anyone younger than 35 should even be looking at moving back here, especially anywhere in Leinster. 1 bed apartments are 1700/pm in fucking Kildare, and that’s if you can get them.

What a fantastic way to piss away 550k of taxpayers money.

  7. very convenient that they removed the Irish language requirement. wonder if this is the reason for the push to remove it for primary teachers too
