‘Vulkan files’ leak reveals Putin’s global and domestic cyberwarfare tactics

  1. Quite an impressive penetration by the NSA (probably with the participation of NCSC and VLA – if I were in a casino, I would split the authorship wager between those three agencies). Probably the most remarkable and intricate accomplishment since the three Ps (as far as those which have so far been made public are concerned, of course)!

(By the way, the amusing story about “an anonymous conscientious insider” being the source of the data has become so repetitive that I half-expect it to be a sort of deliberate, trademark wink by now. Although I suppose that much of the general public do actually believe it).

Judging by the description, however, that “super advanced warfare tool” Scan-V appears to be just an expansion of the old war dialer and port scanner concept, with a touch of Shodan, etc.

  2. To think it only took over a decade and an invasion for people to finally hack and release information on Russia.

I remember when everyone kept saying Wikileaks and Assange were Russian assets, all while no other person or group stepped up to the plate to release what they supposedly wouldn’t.
