Arguably the worst atrocity ever perpetuated against Poland, equivalent at least in destruction to WW2. The entire nation was destroyed by the Swedes. They looted everything, all valuables, massacred civilians, widespread rape, ripped apart buildings and houses and churches for building materials, literally pulling up wood beams, floors and doors to send back to Sweden. Complete total war. So much Polish and Lithuanian art and precious metals/gems are still held in Swedish museums from that theft. Poland never really recovered, and a little over 100 years later completly disappeared from the map. Lithuania got it bad too, but not quite as bad as Poland.
The Deluge is one of those events modern people tend to either ignore or just don’t know about. It’s akin to the Mongols sackings of uncooperative nations and cities.
