‘Half-baked, half-hearted’: critics deride UK’s long-awaited climate strategy

  1. >Joe Biden announced a $370bn green plan for the US last autumn to lower energy costs while accelerating private investment in clean energy solutions as part of his Inflation Reduction Act. Concerns have been raised that the huge subsidies in the plan could lure the UK’s key green industries across the Atlantic.

    >He argued that while the government was right to prioritise investment, the focus should be on technologies such as onshore wind that will reduce emissions in the short term and ensure energy security.

So, again the UK will trail far behind the US.

  2. When it is not a priority for many voters, the Tories can afford to be apathetic. Those who care about climate change are not voting Tory, they are going to vote for more left wing parties because they know the right do not see tackling climate change as a priority. Besides, when you consider what actually needs to be done, the Tories know that proposing a proper plan would cause them to lose a huge number of voters. Telling people that we would need to scrap animal agriculture, rewild the UK, and severely cut our general consumption habits, they would face a backlash like never before. People do not want the harsh truths when it comes to climate change and that suits the Tories just fine.

  3. The British way… piss and moan not enough is being done. Political party offers viable proven alternatives.. no can’t vote for them.. at this point if your not voting green your basically a Tory.
