State pension age rise to 68 will not be brought forward – government to say

  1. It should say yet. We all know the younger generations will end up being forced to retire later. All thanks to the greed of the boomers who have benefited so much from being born at the right time.

  2. Going on past form, tories will try to count this as a pension age cut.

Just like they counted nurses that didn’t leave the NHS as ‘new’ nurses…..

  3. So they are waiting so labour have to do it or until after their next election win to bring it in on day 2.

  4. Keep in mind there are local elections coming up next month, so expect a flurry of this sort of voter-tempting stuff put out by the Tories in run up to it.

  5. imo state pension age should be ~~tied~~ linked to average life expectancy and it would be better to bite the bullet and raise it earlier rather than later. If people want to retire earlier they are welcome to contribute more to their private pension. I know many are unable to save due to the cost of living crisis but that’s a separate issue.

  6. Gen Z and Millennials will have to retire at this age or much much later. The young shouldn’t have go pay through the nose to support the pensions of boomers who have already benefitted immensely from being born at the right time. As sad as it is to say, the earlier retirement age is raised the better.

  7. If young people can’t be bothered to vote, they can’t complain if the government can’t be bothered to look after their interests.

Instead of whinging about boomer this and boomer that – GET OUT AND VOTE.

  8. Translation: Tories are absolutely scared shitless of being hammered in the next election and don’t want to piss off their core vote
