
mods delete if not allowed. i’ve got this set of Deutschland plates on my 850R, i’m in the US and bought them on Ebay and am curious as to what they were registered to before hand. Anyone have tips or sources to find out? thank you.

They were registered in Heidelberg.
Thats all data you can get.

Is the upper sticker round or hexagonal?
If the latter, these plates were registered before 2010, when they were phased out
On top of being from Heidelberg (HD) I can tell you that it’s a custom plate. The default random ones would give you two letters and 2-3 numbers or one letter and 3-4 numbers, but not 2+4 unless in a city with >1M inhabitants where the number of combinations is running low, which is not the case in Heidelberg.
Usually people going for custom plates will use their initials + year of birth or birthday, so in this case it could be someone called P.S. (e.g. Peter Schmidt) born on May 17 (German dates are written as DD.MM.YYYY).
Looks like you’re somewhere in the eastern US. Double check your state laws for plates. Would suck to get a ticket for this.
Out of curiosity. Why German plates on a Volvo? I know in the US within the VAG scene is common to put “German” looking plates on the cars but wouldn’t Swedish plates suit the car better?
