  1. For someone to steal the eggs and the money raised from these kids is absolute scum of the earth

  2. So you know that movie where the emotions are characters and the anger lad keeps exploding into a ball of flame.

That’s kinda what I feel like right now.

  3. Is anyone really surprised, there are people out there that would steal the shirt off your back. Kids, disabled, elderly, it doesn’t matter to them who suffers once they get what they want

  4. I had this happen to me too, they smashed the box to pieces , stole a tray of coins and smashed all the eggs inside too.

Being disabled and hard on cash it was absolutely devastating, I couldn’t afford to make a box like it again and it put me in a bit of a depression seeing people could do that.

  5. Why are people shocked? There are people out there who do not give a single shit about anyone but themselves. Wouldn’t matter who they’re stealing from. They do not care.

  6. Friends kid in Washington does this with a little stand. Thankfully they haven’t had issues like this. Shit luck to be near such shit people.

  7. that’s grim. the system works well in other countries. and not even just for single items, there’s a place where an entire shop /accommodation operates on an honesty policy.
I love coming across random honesty box shops when out walking.

  8. The fact that they’ve stolen the eggs leads me to think it’s probably teenagers or at least other kids doing this.

It’s such a small and petty thing; if it was an adult taking the money they’d just take the money (and maybe leave some behind). But a kid who thinks they’re being edgy or who is just selfish as fuck (as they can often be), will clear the place out and laugh about it.

  9. Ok, so news outlets thrive on selling outrage.

In this case, I’ll allow it. JFC

There is something horrible about teaching kids how fucking awful some people are, and that they need to navigate their lives based on the shitty minority. Fuck you egg stealers, just fuck you.

  10. You only have to watch the “honesty box” for water at Dublin airport for 5 minutes to realise how dishonest people are.

  11. Would a gofundme type job be a good idea? Raise money for the charity and show the kids that all people aren’t total shitheads

  12. Wouldn’t ya just love to catch the pricks stealing and give them a good hiding. Maybe with eggs.

  13. Sad but predictable in Ireland. Some people are just scum.

There was a farm near Lough Boora Discovery Park in Offaly that set up milk vending machines for their milk fresh from the farm.

They had to close it cause some scumbags smashed them up to rob the coins from it. Had they been able to read they would have saw the signs that said card only. They got no money from the theft but caused tens of thousands in damage to the machines and property.

  14. As an egg thief and utter cunt, this severely limits my ability to steal eggs and be a cunt.

  15. Maybe they had it right in the Middle Ages when people would be put in a pillory in the town square for people to come and shame them.

  16. People do this because they get away with it.

The words suspended sentence and previous convictions are all too common in our courts.

We need to get tougher on crime. Think I’ll write to my TDs and see who gets back to me on it.

  17. I shared a campsite in Austria with a large scout troop from inner city dublin… Very large dairy farm to the campsite had an honesty box and empty 2 litre bottles to self fill from the 10000L bulk tank for fresh milk…. It would never enter the austrian farmers mind that anyone could be mishevious or messing… Glad to say the young lads from dublin understood the germam, handled the bulk tank valve and closing gates correctly… dropped their 2eur in honesty box.

I could not see above here working anywhere in ireland, even a rural area.

  18. Maybe they should put a proportion of the money towards this

Meanwhile, if anyone starts a GoFundMe to replace the money stolen by these kids I’ll throw in a tenner happily.

  19. Plenty around here operating just fine, culprit is probably a local.

Lot of people these days who think they’re owed more than they have, and we spend a lot of time reinforcing that belief. That being said they’re in the minority overall, even though they can be very visible on platforms such as Reddit and the like.

  20. We simply have a plurality of wretched nihilistic people who just are too cynical to embody the principle that the pursuit of money and consumerism are evil and destructive things, and no kind of elites that would even consider that a beneficial message to advocate or support. On that basis we will sell everything and devalue anything we can’t sell and call it worthless. Its a spiritual crisis.. We have no grand institutions or unifying causes to sustain us as a nation. its very much a desirable outcome for a lot of profit driven enterprises, I.e. the only kind that call the shots in these parts. I know this is going to be a furiously unpopular comment, I dont give a flying fuck. We should go back to no-trading-on-Sunday rules. Have to start somewhere

  21. So weird, in my country those honesty shops are common for farms, and I’ve never heard of this happening. Who is stealing them here in Ireland?

  22. Nicely hidden game camera for recording photos and movement around it.

Youd love to offer to set one up for them and find out who their egg loving mates are
