Voter ID: MPs urge government to rethink plans for election checks

  1. “Rethink” implies that they have thought about it in the first place.

The only thought they’ve given this is how to suppress voters that they don’t want.

  2. If labour ever get back in, they need to delist anyone in groups unlikely to vote for them. This is not because it is a good or moral thing to do in itself. It’s because the only thing that will deter the Tories from cheating is the fear of others cheating back.

  3. A highly disturbing thing to once again see come back up in the news. If you think its okay you are part of why authoritarians damage and ruin democracy and this is why.

The UK has no fraud problem in elections, this is a political weapon being used on opposition which are historically recognised as generally having a weaker will to vote en mass and is simply a barrier to reduce them voting in the future.

Mixed in with other things like trying to remove groups right to photo ID, election boundary redesigns etc, this is a BAD thing.
