The fact they didn’t even try to hide it by calling it “DUMY” just says it all.
Someone died. There was an accident on the M9 and no one attended for 3 days. It’s absolutely chronic.
>The practice appears to have ended just four months before the M9 tragedy in July 2015. Lamara Bell and John Yuill died after their car lay undiscovered for three days after a crash, despite police being alerted.
So…the system was not a factor in this case?
This is what happens when organisations stop aiming for results and start chasing targets and metrics. It comes from the top – management trying to deliver a good report.
>”Local lobbying of senior management by Bilston Glen ACR staff caused the DUMY call sign to be introduced on STORM Unity on 9 February 2015, a decision which it is alleged was taken by the [REDACTED] without further consultation or permission.”
Talk about creating a rod for your own back. “We can’t handle the call demand boss, can we invent a callsign just to hit the targets?” Rather than, “we can’t hit call demand boss, how about addressing the actual issue of low staffing?”
Absolutely astounding that this went on for 8 years before it was only removed due to new software.
Ah police Scotland, another part of sturgeons long list of achievements.
Lol you would think an organisation whose main purpose involves investigating things might at least realise it’s a bad idea to leave a paper trail, and perhaps not use the call sign ‘DUMY’.
