  1. When din Republic of Moldova invade Poland? If you count during the time it was part of URSS why then other former URSS countries are not red?

  2. Well, this is wrong on few levels… Moldova was already pointed out, Belarus as a country wasn’t independent until 1918, and then only for months (it was invaded and re-absorved into Russia), and half of present day Belarus *was* Poland pre-WW2.

Latvia used to be Livonia, and there was a whole crusade to conquer it (Latvia that is), after which crusaders got into series of wars with both Lithuania and Poland.

  3. the Cossacks almost took Warsaw only because what aristocrat broke into the house of Bogdan Khmelnitsky, beat his children and stole his wife. and then the Kozaks ran out of money and they had to go to the Russian Tsar. and so began a 400-year common history with Russia.

  4. Those kinds of maps are silly. You can make one for every European country. Everybody was invading everyone. Thats what we did in Europe for millennia. And still happening to this day.

Poland invaded most of its neighbors at some point.

  5. When did Ukraine invade Poland? I know the cosacks were at war with the commonwealth, but this was no invasion, it’s more like the commonwealth tried to conquer them.

  6. France has probably been marked on the map because of the Napoleonic Wars. But Napoleon invaded countries that occupied Poland and Poles were in fact his allies, many of them serving in the Napoleon’s army (the Polish Legions were the most known case and even the subject of the song that became the Polish anthem).
