It annoys me so much I rather go to a store for small items.
btw i recived two other packages from them the same day. both of which would have fit in this package…
They are shipping in thousands per day. Probably smaller boxes were out of stock, so they used bigger ones instead of delaying the whole process. No big deal, really.
Is it from Galaxus themselves or from a 3rd party seller via their website?
Just asking, because i had my worst experiences from the 3rd party sellers.
If you ship 100k parcels per day, you can’t always select the perfect box for the job. If you don’t like that, buy at a smaller retailer.
a quick google reveals several different reasons. 1. wrong dimensions of the product in the system. 2. easier handling. 3. less likely to get damaged. 4. logistics as a whole, and probably a few more reasons.
I been wondering exactly about the same thing. The cardboard is recyclable but the plastic I don’t think so.
But why such as waste for a small parcel like that
Packaging material costs money so it’s in their interest to use as little as possible of it. However items breaking during shipping is even more expensive and wasteful.
If they could get away with less packaging they would.
Yeah, but at the same time, half the stuff I order from them arrives damaged. Freezer? Damaged. Table? Damaged. Insect mesh? Not taped shut, ripped open, parts missing.
It’s like they either use way too much packaging or way too little. There’s no middle ground.
Just recycle it so it’s all ok
I can top that.
At the start of the pandemic i ordered a Monitor from digitec and they sent a power cable in a seperate box of maybe 10x20x40 cm, not very efficient already, but the icing on the cake was, that there already was the same type of cable in the box.
now what’s more wasteful? use it to send photos to you or throw it away?
I’ve received something almost identical in an identical way quite recently. It’s terribly annoying.
You can walk to a shop and buy it there. No shipping, no waste of material and transportation energy.
I bought a TV in Brack and they sent a promotional bubble gum in a big box full of wrapping. And the bubble gum bottle was a sample in that huge waste if space and packing 😂
I wonder when they will start using the new boxes they announced a while ago.

Shop local mate. Surely you could have get photo paper around yours. So the least you should do is complaining about packing that was solely caused by your order/laziness.
My last order was fun. They taped some sauce to a box of electronics. It was hilarious to unpack and avoided extra padding.
That said the air filled plastic bags are less horrible than sagex or those weird chips that people used before. They could use reusable padded envelopes though.
so don’t fucking order everything? go to a store? or order to pick up at one of their 1719394 stations?
“oh no my consunerism is so wasteful :(” like no shit
You ordered… photo paper? And then complained that photo paper shipping was wasteful? Look for a local paper or printing store next time
not true, they also put the puffer material.
And they want to beat Amazon in France… Good luck with that!
They always send me the german to Swiss adapter in a big cardboard….
Microspot sent me 3 packages for one delivery, some cables and an Ethernet switch. one same-day delivery, with the switch, and later on two different packages containing ridiculously small cables compared to the box size
I once got a similar sized box, including plastic protection, for a single pack of these round cotton stickers you put under chairlegs so they aren’t too loud when you move them.
A huge box. With plastic protection. For an item that does protecting! And it was the size of an a5 Flyer, it would’ve literally fit in an envelope.
Order Blitzlieferung if they offer, and you will get no packaging at all.
It’s almost as if you were being a shitty consumer on purpose, only to have a reason to rant and point a finger to someone else. But you are part of the problem.
mediamarkt sent me a 90*70*35 box for a 12*14*9 item last year. thanks for the box tho!
Ordered two days ago Lego DeLorean from Galaxus, got it yesterday and there was no package at all, only Lego

Would you be willing to bear the risks in case of damage if less wasteful packaging was used? Or would you be willing to pay more for better/less wasteful packaging?
The same reason you receive multiple letters from the same place in a single day, its just much cheaper to have all the things going in the same box right after ordering without dealing with each thing in detail
I ordered a pack of paper and each sheet came in a different box.
I’ve got an micro SD card shipped to me in a box like that
