The Fântâna Albă massacre took place on 1 April 1941 in Northern Bukovina when up to 3,000 civilians were killed when their attempt to forcefully cross the border from the Soviet Union to Romania, near the village of Fântâna Albă, now in Chernivtsi Oblast, Ukraine, was met with open fire by the Soviet Border Troops. Although according to Soviet official reports no more than 44 civilians were killed, local witnesses assert a much higher toll, stating that survivors were tortured, killed, or buried in mass graves. Other survivors were allegedly taken away to be tortured and killed at the hands of the NKVD, the Soviet secret police. Some sources refer to this massacre as “the Romanian Katyn”.
In 2011, the Chamber of Deputies of Romania adopted a law establishing 1 April as the National Day honoring the memory of Romanian victims of massacres at Fântâna Albă and other areas, of deportations, of hunger, and other forms of repression organized by the Soviet regime in Hertsa (now Ukraine), northern Bukovina, and Bessarabia.
World War 2 : Where 20 Million Soviets were killed by Nazis ( including Romanians fighting side by side with Nazis in Stalingrad)
What do you want to achieve with this post? Surely this is cruel.
You’d expect humanity to learn from this.
Romanian troops were responsible for the persecution and massacre of 260,000 Jews in Romanian-controlled territories, though half of the Jews living in Romania itself survived the war.
I understand why you said “81 years ago” instead of saying the date it happened. If I was Romanian, I wouldn’t want to mention Romania and World War 2 in the same sentence either, because then people would remember that Romania was allied with the Nazis and Romanian soldiers killed hundreds of thousands of Jews.
The same wikipedia page you’re taking your informations from says that the largest group was 2000 men large and that between 50 and 200 persons were killed so maybe you misunderstood somethings but it does look like heavy misinformation
Of course. The second you have a post critical about mass-murdering soviet fuckheads, you instantly have little tankie/vatnik trashcans coming outta the wood work and going “oohhh but whatabout X bad thing, hUH?? huh? ever think about that? betcha didn’! Heh, I’m very smart.”
Goddamn I hate these greasy little bastards who go around pretending to be leftists and spreading their dumb bullshit.

May victims of red plague rest in peace.
Very horrible massacre indeed.
This event is one of many simmilar of the time. First time hearing and reading about it, but I knew there probably were huge massacres of Romanians in soviet-occupied Ukraine and Moldova
No, the communists were good, trust me bro! USA bad, liberalism bad! Communism is the way to go! /s
