Plans for rail pass for UK staycationers axed over cost concerns | Rail transport

  1. We already have Rangers and Rovers and have done for years and years.

The problem is the price, but that’s hardly unique to the Rangers and Rovers.

  2. Promises something ‘great’ and ‘amazing’, then quietly withdraws it when forced to actually looking at delivering.

Tory manifesto pledge for next – well, all – GE?

  3. I’m not buying the not commercial viable argument

While the train company may not be able to make a profit from these cheap tickets, what about the hotels, shops, restaurants and theatres who would benefit from more tourists spending their money 🤷‍♂️

  4. >Plans for rail pass for UK staycationers axed over ~~cost~~shareholder concerns

    There I fixed it.

    Dividends won’t pay themselves.

  5. Yeah, we’ve frozen VED for how many years running now?

Rail fares have gone up what % above inflation since 2010?

    Shambles.

  6. Of course. Hell, i discovered the other day that my train station’s counter isn’t opened before 10am and I wanted to get a railcard. The fucking machine refused to let me get it because I don’t see the logic of getting a 26-30 railcard that will only last until next march when I can get one that lasts 2-3 years. That’s just a railcard.

A railpass would have likely benefitted everyone but the greedy fuckers just need all of that extra half a percent profit per person. I hate this country.
