Bupa Dental Care to cut 85 practices amid UK dentist shortage

  1. UK pro Life tip: if you need dentistry work book a city break to Krakow or Warsaw and get it done there.

Probably cheaper and easier to have a registry office wedding and hold a stag doo in Poland and get work done than it is to find an NHS dentist

  2. I don’t get why dentistry isn’t healthcare? Like imagine Gp surgeries closing and just not being there anymore. Or A&E. It doesn’t make sense, at all.

  3. I’m so desperate for the dentist but the only one within 20 miles of me isn’t taking on not even for private care.

  4. It’s utterly mad how this isn’t a major topic. Every single one of us is aware that it’s entirely impossible to get an NHS appt with a Dentist. That wouldn’t be so bad if the prices for having someone shove their finger in my mouth and tell me I’ve got teeth didn’t start in the thousands privately, but it is.

Outrageous. I haven’t been in years because of this exact reason. I currently have no issues I’m aware of thankfully, but I’m sure that in years to come there’s corrosion currently happening that I’ll pay for later.

Dentistry should be on the NHS. I don’t understand why some of it is / was / isn’t anymore, nor how Government isn’t doing something about it. Brits are known worldwide for having terrible teeth, and it’s only going to get worse.

For the record, I earn decent money and have private healthcare through work – however I don’t want to spend the ludicrous prices they charge, nor does my private healthcare cover dentisty.

  5. Been living in UK for a decade and is still more convenient for me to go back to my country twice a year for my dental check-up, is also cheaper. When I went to register here in UK, they gave me a waiting list of more than a year…

  6. My dentist kicked a load of people off their patient list for not going during the pandemic, when getting an appointment was practically impossible unless it was an emergency. With no NHS dentists around and most practices with practices having year-long waiting lists for a check up, I just have to sit here and hope nothing bad ever happens to my teeth instead.
