When you treat a public service as a religion, these headlines don’t come as a shock.
The NHS still has a huge issue around whistleblowers, the old guard, and those who try to stand up against the culture of ‘This is how we have always done it.’ It can be a great place to work for if you find the right department and have a strong manager who will back you up. It can also be a bureaucratic nightmare that refuses to make the changes it needs to when faced with errors. It is not one trust, it is all of them. Some are better than others but trying to effect real change in the NHS would require significant changes to the higher ups and how trusts operate on a daily basis.
