This isn’t exactly surprising, given the staff issues and the waiting times soaring. This can now be used as an excuse for the Tories to start dismantling it though. I don’t think they’ll do it quite as overtly as outright selling it and going to a US system, though. But I do think we’ll be paying for GP appointments before the next election. They’ll spin it as “helping the NHS” or something similar.
**Vote to strengthen the NHS**.
Health distributes wealth.
I ended up in A&E as a walk in after a car accident last Monday for a chest Xray / CAT scan and although it was insanely slow due to staffing issues (over 15 hours), I really can’t criticise the service I got.
As long as you accept that underfunding means they can’t move through patients as fast as they want to, and the buildings were designed 20-30 years ago when they had more staff and fewer people waiting around all day so you could find somewhere to sit – it’s still a good service.
Edit: Just to add, I was advised to do this by the ambulance crew who attended at the time and then told to go A&E by the local minor injuries clinic when they saw the extent of my bruising 48 hours later. I didn’t just wander in 🙂
Tories will use this to try to force through more privatisation and an American healthcare model. They’ve wanted it destroyed since 1948.
Public satisfaction with lying, corrupt, inept government falls to new low. The NHS is doing its best under near impossible circumstances and you aren’t helping with your Tory propaganda so give it a rest or step up and show the public some respect.
Don’t worry, a 5% pay rise for most NHS staff is going to fix the staffing issue. Since they announced it we’ve been inundated with members of the public looking to join the NHS.
I’m still pissed off that Unison had the gall to say:”Our lead NHS committee has overseen negotiations to this point, and judged that this offer is worth recommending to you.”
The government made their *two chairs in a corridor pushed together with a sheet* and now your family spend 10 hours in it waiting.
I found working in a and e harrowing when the wait times crept up. The building was literally not able to accommodate the sheer volume, we often got into a spiral where there were so many people we would have to work slower because moving patients around other patients took ages to take them to scans, examination rooms ect.
I’d often do all my own portering as the doctor to desperately try and increase throughput. Drop in the ocean in hindsight.
>Some 43% said taxes should go up to provide more funding, but 28% said the NHS should live within its budget.
A little concerning a response share as large as 28% thought the NHS should live within its budget. What we are currently seeing is the NHS trying to live within its budget but it’s just not feasible.
This was a record high in 2010. No idea what happened since. None at all
All going to plan. I remember “moderates” a few years ago saying there’s no way the tories want to destroy the NHS
Ah yes the Tory controlled BBC’s weekly hit piece on the NHS, its almost laughable that the editors through these out and expect no-one to pick up on this. Goebbels would have been jealous of this propaganda machine.
I uses to really feel for hospital staff, until a close family member had to stay in hospital for over a week. While visiting we had a number of staff members completely ignore the patients notes, argue with us once we politely prompted them to check the notes, we saw staff completely ignore patients for hours on end while they browse social media on their phones, there was a group of ladies who thought it was appropriate to grab themselves a coffee every 30 minutes and claim they are still on a lunch break because they have been “on their feet all day” while we watch them do nothing but drink coffee and gossip their entire shift!
So no I am not satisfied with their service because alot of the staff members just take the absolute piss and use “we are short staffed and exhausted” as their reason to clock in and do absolutely nothing till they clock out.
Have been back to that same hospital a few times and nothing has changed at all. The same staff members doing their same routine of standing around doing sweet f a while the patients are told to wait because “everyone is busy right now”.
There’s nothing like a pandemic to show that **my health depends on your health**. The NHS should be free to all when needed, as pandemics are likely to increase with population, poverty, and pollution.

Public satisfaction with **government funding and vandalism of** health service drops to record low
The NHS is wank, let’s be honest. That’s not the staffs fault though, but the *Service* part is almost non-existant.
Public satisfaction with Tories undermining health service drops to a record low. Fixed it for ya.
It’s almost as if running the NHS into the ground results in a poorer service for people. Who would’ve thought it?
all part of the tory plan
1. strip it back, make it shit
2. feed us the line “privatisation is the answer!”
3. profit
I wish I could see my GP to be able to tell if I’m satisfied.
Imo general practice needs to be reformed. It was a mistake to let them operate outside the NHS as a business. The quality of GP varies massively across the country as a result
As an example, in late 2021 my English GP had e-consult, online booking and face-to-face appointments. It had all these things since 2019. They’re well-organised and don’t lose any documents
The Welsh GP I just moved from didn’t have any of these things. Bookings and appointments on the phone only, no e-consult. They also routinely mixed up or lost my documents.
