Finally, someone from the government telling it like it is!

  1. “The government would not be happy about people losing jobs in the construction and real estate sectors, Engel said, but it was up to the company bosses to take responsibility for their employees, particularly given the high margins made in the sectors over the past few years.” – Labor Minister Georges Engel

  2. 2 real estate agencies per thousand inhabitants…. I always joked that everyone and their mum had one here, but that really is nuts.

  3. We can’t keep that high number of RE agents, they should simply be reconverted to other professions. But construction companies are needed otherwise we perpetuate the problem. Now it’s maybe the government’s turn to invest in more housing. We are at very low levels of new constructions now.

  4. I’ve always had the suspicion that RE agencies were one of the (main?) reasons for the crazy price increases in the last few years or so. They have an incentive to overvalue properties since they make a percentage of the sale price. Plus there was a crazy amount of them indeed. I’m really curious to see how some going bust may affect the prices.

  5. They will sacrifice agents (=workers) while pumping taxpayers’ billions to subsidize investors (=legal money launderers) and keep prices as they are.Wait and see
