Police seize 17 dogs after six-year-old girl attacked | ITV News

  1. Chances are, the dogs were kept in poor conditions and the owners are fully to blame for what happened.

  2. If the government finally gets around to regulating this, they should also consider a limit on the number of dogs — depending on the size of the household, of course. I think it’s incredibly unlikely that this many dogs weren’t being kept in cruel conditions — which, of course, can then contribute to their likelihood to attack people.

  3. Really rather unfortunate ad placement here…

“We’re Bella & Duke, the UK Leaders in Raw Pet Food…”

  4. I know a 17 year old girl who owns one of these type of dogs. She’s a moron, the dog isn’t being trained at all apart from to ‘protect’ her. It gets praise for barking and growling at people who come near her on the street, that sort of thing.

Only a matter of time before she loses control of it and it attacks someone.

And she’s getting another one soon.

  5. Destroy all 17. No more second chances. Imprison the owner for life.

All powerful dogs should be muzzled when they leave their home. Sick of hearing these stories. “Oh but Tyson has never attacked anyone before” “Princess is great with kids, don’t know what got into her”

People saying it’s the owner not the breed are very wrong. A skilled trainer can make any breed obedient. But these things have the attack drive of a terrier and the bite force of a rottweiler. They are not suitable pets for 99% of the population. Any dog can lose its temper, but these things are designed to do damage and be relentless.

  6. We need to treat dogs like we treat weapons. We need dog licences with certain breeds requiring “good reason” to own. Only responsible dog owners should own dogs. There should be tests done to determine who can and cannot have a dog before they buy it. For example people with violent history should be denied licences. Coppers should be able to do spot checks on dog walkers and ask for licence if not shown dog should be taken away.

  7. Dog attacks feels like the uk version of shootings in America at the moment – seems to be regularly in the news and needs the government to step in and sort some regulation.

  8. Ban the lot of them.
Seize any dog that is this breed.

It’s the only way to stop it.

It’s never the Labrador that does this.

  9. I blame the rspca, defra and the police as well as the owners for letting the most pitbull-like breed to enter the uk despite the law saying dogs measuring up to be pit bulls within their own guidelines are to be neutered, registered and muzzled. They might be xL bullies but they’re pitbull copies as far as danger goes, to dogs and people alike. The authorities were caught napping allowing this breed to take off in the uk. I regularly see two when I walk my dogs and we give them a wide berth because they are always off the lead.

  10. I swear dangerous untrained dogs for the UK is like assault rifles for the US. Just never going to do anything about it

  11. Round up every American Bully and destroy the lot of them. There is no justification for owning such a dangerous animal.

  12. People need to stop this obsession with dogs that were literally breed to fight.

What’s wrong with an actual dog and not a fashion accessory that can kill you?

  13. Too little too late. This ain’t going to bring back the little girl. What a horrible state of affairs.

  14. We will probably have to see a few children die before this government turns its head away from immigration to do anything.

  15. I’ve literally only ever seen these dogs get put down or they become too wild and run away and get hit by a car.

  16. The breed should be banned. And owners of dogs who are out of control should be jailed for years.

As soon as the wannabe hardmen and clueless middle-class Karens see their friend bange dup for 10 years because their dog attacked a kid, they’ll think twice.

  17. I love big dogs and have 2 Great Danes of my own but realistically there’s no reason to own them nowadays, atleast mine I know if it was a life or death situation I could stop them but dogs designed for damage like rotts or bulls are different beasts
