  1. Thatcher was a divisive figure and she relished it. She thought of Britain in terms of ‘them’ and ‘us’ and most poor,working class people were ‘them’,as well as most of the North of England and all of Wales and Scotland. As long as enough aspirational working classes in the Midland and the South of England voted Tory to win General Elections ,she was happy.

  2. She was the first female leader of a big nation.
    And this was decades before gender equality became a thing. Tremendous achievement on a personal level.
