I really can’t comprehend how SDP was even this close
>The NCP has led in polls for almost two years although its lead had melted away in recent months. It has promised to curb spending and stop the rise of public debt, which has reached just over 70% of GDP since Marin took office in 2019.
>
>Orpo accused Marin of eroding Finland’s economic resilience at a time when Europe’s energy crisis, driven by Russia’s war in Ukraine, has hit the country hard and the cost of living has increased.
Are they really blaming her for Covid?
Or is there more to it?
Dark days. Reddit’s wifu lost.
Right wing in Finland won’t accomplish anything so Social democrats will be in soon again. It’s the cycle of life. As far as Sanna Marin goes, her path is higher and more noble. It wouldn’t surprise me to see her as NATO chief or EU Council President
The thing is, SDP manages to get more places in parliament. That doesn’t normally happen to party in government. I think it has happened only three times in Finnish history. This result is very bad for Finland, but I have to say this good result for SDP tells something about how good they have been for Finland. And I have to highlight that this is very normal in Finnish politics that opposition wins. It happened last time and it happened now.
Somehow I suspect new prime minister wont be making a front page 5 times a week.
I think Marin needs to try out in Europe, as the window, where just being an attractive woman in politics is something new, closes in few years.
She is quite good, when she can give monologues, but quite inept, when put under pressure. Her party pulled the trick of trying to imply some kind of strategic block voting, which now probably alienated a lot of her coalition. It helped her party a bit in the short run (+3 seats), but did not make much new friends as the other coalition parties got totally obliterated (-7 for greens and -4/5 for Left)
National Coalition Party is conservative, not right-wing.
True Finns are right-wing.
90% less likely to have a wank when a report about Finnish politics is on the TV news

Why are Finns racist?
What change is expected? Other than the prime minister’s choice to spend time in a nightclub?
Let’s hope they won’t be like other Putin-asskisser right wing parties in Europe. Really don’t need that right now. They’ll go right back out of NATO, if they are the kind of rightwinger I fear.
You can tell how there’s a personality cult around Marin by the way the elections are constantly depicted as Marin vs. the other parties.
Glad to see her not being our next PM. I doubt SDP would’ve received even close to this amount of votes if it wasn’t for tactical voting from the left-wing voters who abandoned the Greens (VIHR) and the Left (VAS).
