Let it go bankrupt and have the government buy it back for £1.
this is to force the gov to drop the legal mandate to deliver letters 6 days a week.
So they’ve separated off the profitable bit and are going to hand the unprofitable bit back to the taxpayer, fantastic…
Thought they had a billion pound plus in cash war chest they boasted about a few months back? There’s no way they’ve burned through that

Buy it back for a pound, to be government subsidised, create new wing called ParcelFuckyouforce. Offer free parcel deliveries for two years, watch all the privatised companies die, since it’s subsidised. Once the competition is dead, put prices upto a fair value. And say fuck you to all the dicks stripping valuable assets away from organisations and getting the tax payer to fit the bill.
Rm is almost broken beyond repair. It is a shame but currently not viable so unless they sort it out somehow (is it still even possible to rescue it?) there will be a lot of people on the dole.
Im sure lately we only get post once a week- maybe twice. Even though the 6 day delivery thing still seems to be there, it’s not working!
Another failed privatisation experiment, brought to you by the economically illiterate Tory party.
Sadly after over 500 years of service I don’t see much of a future for Royal Mail. Why send an envelope that costs money and takes days when you can send an email instantly for free.
that’s fine.
let the government buy it back and run it at cost.
Seems like a great time to correct Jo Swinson’s vandalism and renationalise the royal mail then, doesn’t it?
Last March, just a year ago, Royal Mail announced record profits of £758m. So, in the space of a year Royal Mail bosses threaten to declare insolvency. Now, to be fair to those bosses, some things happened outside of their control, rapid inflation and fuel costs and the problems that they bring with them, for the business and the customers. The covid “bounce” came to an end but was anticipated. So, that record profit was mainly passed onto shareholders, instead of investing heavily in the future of the business which we knew would be struggling after covid.
At the moment the Regulator, OFCOM, and the government still require Royal Mail to provide a six day service. What Royal Mail does is, basically, ignore that and to deliver when and where it wants.
Letters are declining, that obvious to all of us in the business, but people still send them. Personally, I think the future of the business is a much smaller operation, one that puts emphasis on premium products, ie Tracked and Special Deliveries. Letters and normal packets will have a slower service, perhaps five days a week and ending up as three days a week (the CEO has already mentioned this). The public will end up planning ahead when posting.
Meanwhile the Post Office manage to get a pretty decent offer considering.
They (the owners) bought this shit on their own!!!!!! They butchered a great service!!!! Pure greed hope they go bust
Good fuck em. But sadly. Just so you know they split royal mail into 2 services parcels and letters.
They will let the letters service go bust as that’s not profitable for them which is the entire reason they are doing this. But they will keep the profitable parcels service.
Good, Royal Mail needs to be abolished. Get with the times boomers.
>**The Royal Mail Act 2023**
>
>The Royal Mail, its subsidiaries and assets, in original form as sold to private parties previously, are now the property of HM Government, to be operated by them.
>
>No remuneration shall be provided for this.
That’s it. Job done
Like, obviously you can’t go around doing this all the time, commerce would cease to have any faith in operating here – but you could have some fucking balls, and use your sovereign power to put pressure on private businesses that rinse us *sometimes.*
