  1. would the kids not be gone home by 2030 i mean they would probably all be in bed by then, sure they should get the hot meals when they are on the premises and at a proper time to be eating

  2. I remember back in the day, cartons of milk were delivered to school for us, that was almost 30 years ago, only another 7 years for this definitely welcome but could they not try and get it done before the next election and something else comes along and takes priority

  3. Far bigger issues to deal with than this to be fair. I can afford to feed my kids, would be far better targeting the money spent on this into early years childcare while also providing school meals for those of ho need them.

  4. If it happens I hope it doesn’t end up like school canteens in America.

Owned by corporations and serving shit food to kids everyday. Pizza is counted as one of your 5 a day there.

  5. You can be sure the state will be paying steak prices for the grimmest “food” you ever imagined. If it ever happens. Which it won’t. Unless Lowry is right now buying up all the toaster ovens in Albania.

  6. A school i worked at had brought in a breakfast program. Nothing special , just cereal and fruit.

I wasnt there when it first started but i was told the change was amazing and nearly immediate.
    Fewer students were late.
Teachers noticed students were in a better mood and more attentive.
Certain problem students had a full turn around. A lot of kids that couldnt afford lunch would avoid the canteen. With the free breakfast these kids could sit down together and make friends.

Happier children have a better chance of becoming happy adults

  7. I love the way the current government is making all these great policies and promises… that won’t come into effect for 7-10 years. It’s almost like they’re trying to convince us to keep them around…

  8. The primary school I was in was classed as disadvantaged and we got lunches every day – nothing fancy, sandwiches 2 days a week and buns not dissimilar to hot cross buns 2 days a week. And then on Fridays we would get these gigantic fuck off chocolate muffins. To this day I have yet to find a chocolate muffin quite as nice. I’ve no idea what they were thinking giving little kids huge chocolate muffins for lunch once a week but needless to say we absolutely loved it! Nobody was ever out on a Friday 😂

Though seriously, providing lunches in school is a great thing. There were definitely some kids in my class that wouldn’t have eaten if it wasn’t for them. I hope they manage to implement this new scheme.

  9. 2030. Why is everything so far out!? Didn’t we have a surplus of a few billion last year? Surely we can start now

  10. Guaranteed come next election the government will start saying how they have a lot planned and need to continue their work this will be one of the examples used

  11. We should look at France and just copy their exact system. Knowing us though we will outsource it to Aramark
