Accidentally put the hot vessel on the kitchen desk beside my hot plate and it is burnt. What should be the loss in security deposit (2300€) when I leave this place?

  1. That is what the deposit are for, if you are afraid of losing all your deposit, ask for a quote to fix this, it is your own responsibility. Your family/domestic insurance may be helpful for this kind of mishap, that is why we pay for insurance 😉

  2. Ask the insurance but definitely accept that you have to fix this and have it fixed with something of a similar value. I say this because this looks like a very cheap kitchen counter but I am almost 99 percent sure that if you show this to your landlord when you exit, he will have it replaced with the most expensive thing he can find and absolutely not something of a similar quality. Happened to several people I know.

  3. If this is an IKEA worktop, then it’s price should be around 100eur fir the default size, that you can customise (cut to length and cut place for hob, sink), just need some tools and DIY skills (or a friend with these). Just in case insurance won’t cover it or would not cover the price given by a professional.
