The latest on the vaccines is that three doses appear to be highly effective at preventing symptomatic disease against Omicron (perhaps 75% effective), and far more effective than this at preventing severe disease. (The individual antibodies are not good at binding to Omicron, perhaps 3-5% as effective, but after being boosted your body produces a huge number of them.) Two doses of the vaccines are still expected to be highly effective against severe disease, perhaps not quite as effective, but are poor at preventing symptomatic disease and, crucially, onward transmission. This data is somewhat provisional as it will take time to fully assess Omicron’s risk profile.
vaccine working so well you can grab a booster after just 2 months!
It’s the way back to normal!
I booked mine yesterday. I’m 30. My brother and his partner got theirs yesterday.
They are 28.
So what is the distinction here? It looks like they’re just trying to make headlines?
Why do we need boosters so soon? 2 months since the last dose? What protection are these jabs actually offering, especially younger adults. Were gonna need new jabs every 2 months?
Will be interesting to see what the take up in the younger age categories are, especially the over 30s.
A lot of my friends in that age group had both vaccines and most of them felt like shit for days afterwards. I know a few of them who have no plans to get the booster as in their minds they’re vaccinated, they haven’t caught covid, with the vaccines they feel they *should* be able to deal with it if they get it, and they don’t want the week of feeling like shit again.
Wonder if that sentiment is popular across the country?
I’ve just waited for two hours in the pouring rain for my booster. Totally worth it. I got myself a 49p pastel de nata from Lidl as a prize for being brave, on the way home.
The website let me (34) book mine today. Earliest date I could get was 29th December but at least it’s booked in now. I had my last dose in July.
I felt worse after my first and second shots than I did when I actually had COVID, I won’t be getting a third or fourth.
10 years from now, when you’re on your 38th booster, will you still be hoping everything will one day go back to normal?
I’m pregnant, and had my second dose in August. I feel reluctant to get this booster, and would rather wait until I’ve given birth in February. On the flip side, I’m worried that I’ll do more harm by not getting the booster. It’s a difficult decision for me at the moment.
I tried to book mine on Wednesday. The website crashed 6 times over 30 minutes (you had to wait 5 minutes in virtual queue). I’m not sure if I’ll bother now tbh. I just started a new job so I’m busy and I don’t want to get sick (ironic right)
I only had my second dose at the end of September, and it fucked me up for a few days. I’m not really enthusiastic about the concept of getting jagged every 3 months… I’ll pass on this one unless omicron turns out to be the plague.
Before I only used to get this excited booking a holiday! Cannot wait to update my FB status to let everyone know how brave I am and that I’m protecting humanity!

You can now book a booster dose if you’re over 30 and it’s been two months since your last vaccination.

Since the 8th all over 18s have been allowed to book boosters and go to walk-ins. My GPs sent invites to us and our friends on the 8th and 9th and we’re in the over 30s. The [NHS page for walk in centers](https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/find-a-walk-in-coronavirus-covid-19-vaccination-site/) also still says 18+

Get your 4th booster soon lads
I’ll pass on the bi-monthly boosters….
