I am creating a collection of world music from all the countries around the globe.

I would love to get 7 songs from each country:

* A traditional folk or ethnic song that emphasizes the spirit of your country’s culture and history the best
* A popular and loved rock/metal song in your language
* A popular and loved pop or pop-folk song in your language
* A funny song/parody which shows the humour of your people
* Two songs in genre that is very popular in your country (eg. black metal in Norway or reggaeton in Puerto Rico)
* A song of any genre in your language that you think is interesting and worthy of sharing with the world

Can you help me? 🙂 I would love to listen to all your suggestions and get to know more about your countries!

  2. As far as Flanders (Dutch) go:

    * Folk: Laïs – ‘t Smidje

    * Rock/metal: Amenra – Ogentroost

    * Pop: Bazart – Goud

    * Funny: Urbanus – Hittentit

    * Popular genres: Not sure if there’s ONE genre that’s very popular. I’ll choose ‘Kleinkunst’ because it’s somewhat typical. Zjef Vanuytsel – De Zotte Morgen and Gorki – Mia

    * Interesting song: Ziet Em Duun – Van Echelpoel

    Nice idea altough it’s weird to focus on rock, metal, pop and folk. Why not include hip-hop, R&B or maybe even some experimental genres?

    Also, why not just make a Spotify playlist out of the suggestions?
