  1. Turkish Lira doing Bitcoin moves, 7% in a day is pretty heavy considering the large volume of money. I think Turkey was a trillion dollar economy for about 5 minutes before the drop, so consider how much wealth these percentage moves are deleting.

  2. They were gifted one of the greatest visionaries of the 20th century for a founder and strayed from his vision for their country.

I hope they return to the wise path.

  3. Erdogan to the world a few months ago:

    * **Fuck you**, **Fuck you**, **Fuck you** and **Fuck you too**!

    Erdogan to the world nowadays:

    * Hey why don’t you have trust and confidence in my currency?

  4. I’m going to get my paycheck in about 2 weeks.

Does someone know if I can already preorder the Topkapi palace from amazon with my sweet € money?

  5. As a person who was raised in Turkey but has the chance to live in EU because of my dual citizenship I feel really sad and worried for my friends and family. Life is already difficult and with all this bs because of Erdogan and his deteriorated physical/mental health it seems like there’s no break for anyone living there.

  6. Let’s say Erdogan was in the right when this started – let’s just assume that for a second. Let’s say he was right even a while after.

Well, it’s LONG since devolved into sheer stupidity.

  7. This is just absurd. At this point it’s an exercise in seeing how low it can get before there’s a general revolt or a part of society collapses, whichever goes first.

I can’t imagine how it is for anyone who’re paid in Lira or whose savings were in that currency.

  8. Central bank intervention is code speak for more money printing. One can never get enough ~~cow bell~~ money printing.

  9. This is of course very sad for Turks in Turkey, but this must be great for Turks not in Turkey sending money home or going on vacation there

  10. Previous exchange rate was sustained by abundant foreign investments. Which have ended once Erdogan began pursuing independent policy. Decrease in quality of life is a price you have to pay for independence.
