The youtube rabbit hole brought me this yesterday: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRsopS7yTG8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRsopS7yTG8) essentially talking about the fact we can compost the remains of the deceased (better for the environment, less use of space, …). The only article I could find relating to Belgium is [4 years old](https://uitvaartvlaanderen.be/composteren-de-toekomst-voor-milieuvriendelijk-begraven/).
Looking into it, the Americanos are extremely divided on the subject (surprise, surprise…). But personally I think it’s not a bad idea, so what’s the Belgian take on this? Is it legal? Will it be? Should it be?

We put all our human compost in Brussels. Big, old building just filled to the brim with human compost
Not yet legally allowed. Recently mentioned on TV1 journaal.
> the Americanos
Made me chuckle.
Por favor, los Americanos!
As long as it’s not mandatory, I don’t care if other people desecrate their loved one’s corpse. Up to them, really.
Don’t want it for anyone I care about though.
So, I guess it should be a thing, then? As long as it’s not forced on us like many other eco stuff.
Wouldnt that be pretty dangerous for diseases though.
We have Dries VL and Niels , more then enough human compost a country can handle
I for one would love to be treated that way instead of cremation. Returning to the soil, how awesome.
Would you be allowed to throw the body of your deceased family member in your composthoop in the garden then?
