I would bet this is one of those comfort buttons anyway, doesn’t do shit outside making you feel better for pressing button while waiting.
The worst are the ones that doesn’t change the cycle at all, cars will have their green and red lights coming at same pace but there won’t be switch for pedestrian green lights if you don’t press them. Hate those, because of them I’m more used to lean on and check car traffic lights then those for pedestrians.

In Katowice many of those were wrapped in tape during covid, and lights were changing automaticly. Retarded? Yes. Effective? No.
A ton of these were taped during covid pandemic all around Warsaw
