Not really hidden. It’s probably the most popular outdoor place in the south to enjoy the nature, after nuuksio.
It’s not as advertised as Nuuksio because public transport isn’t as good as when you go to Nuuksio.
Did you know that the whole Porkkala cape and surrounding areas were “rented” to CCCP after ww2 until 1956?
thank god we got rid of them…
Thanks for info, I was waiting for that :3
Forgot to mention how rocky, narrow and bumpy the road is when you go there. There are a lot of holes on the road and not properly maintained when you go by car. So yeah but there’s the view as the prize
Hidden lol? Very popular imho
Another interesting and beautiful place to visit is Jussarö in the southern archipelago. Empirical history mixed with ruins of industrial mining town and breathtaking views.
As a non-Finn this is a hidden gem for me. They should advertise more often so that people who didn’t know about it would get to admire the view as well.
Beautiful photo! Glad you enjoyed our nature!
People often complain how Finland is cold and dreary (my southern GF first and foremost) but I think it’s a partial reason why everything seems so beautiful when the sun starts to do it’s thing.
Without darkness, how could you see the light?
If you liked Porkkala, you will also enjoy Kopparnas, which is a bit further to the west.
I can personally highly suggest Kopparnäs [https://uuvi.fi/en/area/kopparnas-storsvik/](https://uuvi.fi/en/area/kopparnas-storsvik/), the shore is breath taking and nice change to all the forests, walking on the rocky shore by the sea on a sunny day is awesome. Watch out some vipers, I think they are waking from their winter slumber lol.
