Taking a page from the Tennessee playbook and segregating trans women from the rest of society. Don’t get caught by the “protecting children and women” bullshit, this is about making it harder for trans women to go into public spaces. It’s discrimination in its purest form. It is beyond cruel.
It might seem innocuous now but this will be used to segregate women’s bathrooms, making it impossible for trans women to go anywhere. Look at the drag bans in the US. At first it was to “protect children” and now they’re going further by trying to make it illegal to not wear the clothing associated with the gender assigned at birth. The UK and the US are taking notes from each other on how to best harass trans and lgbtqia+ people. Hell, the UK was named in the same breath as Turkey, Poland, Russia, and Hungary as being aggressively regressive in LGBTQIA+ rights.

This would just be a now necessary clarification after the smoke and mirror tactics from activists after they got their foot in the door with the whole “sex is different from gender” shtick and then pulled the rug away

Now, what we consider socially more important is a completely different issue, but we should at least all agree that gender is the one wich comes from your head and sex is the one defined by the rest of your body (which isn’t strictly M/F, but intersex, hermaphroditism, XXY and such are rare cases and it’s not the point of this specific discourse).
Sex is biological, gender is psychological
Amending the definition of sex so trans women can’t piss in women’s toilets is fundamentally stupid and objectively discriminating. The UK has so much more to deal with than this stupid bigoted shit, on god
They said on radio 4 that this could negatively affect the 7000 transgender people who have used the mechanism to change their legal gender. 7000? Out of 63000000?? Why bother getting consultation to reduce the rights for such a slim fraction of the population?
