Net zero is such a lie and sold as a solution that it simply isnt.
Net zero is being stuck down a well and trying not to fall further.
Net zero cos we plant x000 trees is even worse. A tree takes decades before it does what it does. And how many times have you driven past a sea of plastic tubes with dead trees in them on banks of motorways.
Is someone looking after the trees, are they native? Are they planted at the right time in soil they need?
Dont ask pleb, we’re net zero cos we planted trees, stfu.
Theres so much murk in how thats achieved.
Net zero could literally be using greencrete to concrete an area.
Also look at the solution being pushed to the consumer. Everyone who has a car buying a brand new electric car. What mental logic is that? Note though it makes so much money for business and means the govt doesnt have to spend bns and take the responsibility of a green and overhauled public transport system.
Corporations dont care about you or the environment. Amazon burns down rainforesta and keeps you quiet by driving electric vans. Etc.
There needs to be something done about inequality this creates – big business can easily do greenwashing and manufacture in the countries that don’t care about environment, while small business that can’t outsource manufacturing has to face higher energy costs and other issues and so their products are automatically far less competitive.
Anything that is being imported e.g. from China should have a hefty tax, so that the product manufactured in China should have the same cost as if it was manufactured here. The tax could be ringfenced to help domestic manufacturers become greener.
Let’s have a referendum on so called ‘Net Zero’. I’d hazard a guess that the public would scrap the whole thing by an overwhelming margin.
I find it very odd whenever something needs to be paid for everyone says “the working people.”
Despite corporations making record profits that could see investment into the development and growth of green energy.
It’s ludicrous how we need to pay for another’s greed in this country.
“Oh but they’ll become uncompetitive and move country if they fork out money to do so!”
And what’s the alternative then?
“Make working people pay and go into debt. Tax you’re future children so they don’t have a future. Directly harm the growth of your own country since no-one else has any money to cough up to fill the already full money bags of the wealthy?”
Like really people come on!?
This is exactly what borrowing should pay for. It is going to benefit future generations.
Tell me how reducing our consumption of petrol and gas, especially after the last 2 years, is going to make us poorer?
Insulation, wind turbines, solar, all make bills far cheaper.
That’s without mentioning the cost of having to deal with cities underwater from flooding.
If they actually achieved net zero I would say it was worth it.
Problem is I doubt we will get net zero or low bills.
Then what?
She says the transition will mean the country will be wealthier, hinting they’ll be lower afterwards. It sounds like a good news story dressed up as bad news
Only because the UK govt refuses to invest in the UK and foreign energy companies are committed to gouging the shit out of the British consumer.
