That is crazy. Le Pen would beat Macron [with 55% of the vote](https://twitter.com/BFMTV/status/1643629492361998336) in the 2nd round if the presidential election took place today.

Macron’s pension debacle is part of it but I wonder if it’s also what happens when you legitimize and normalize the Russian narrative that we can’t humiliate Putin and ultimately need an agreement with Russia. Voters will start to believe you and abandon you for the real deal (Le Pen)

  2. The next election is in 2027. Making polls already is premature, a lot can and will change until then.

  3. Well, it is expected that Macron’s raiting would be low right now. Just a couple days ago internet was full of protests. That’s why he pushed for reform right now and not closer to 2027. Things will change in a couple of years.

  4. This is how countries end of countries whose mainstream parties from left to right betray their ideals, which in combination with any crisis or series of crises will lead to radicalization. History shows that people have not learned anything from it.

  5. Who would have thought that wealth inequality, among other issues, leads to right wing populism winning in pretty much entire europe.

  6. Beware, Selecting this poll can give the impression that RE is polling at eleven. Darmanin is so unsufferable that even Macron voters can not vote for the guy. In the other poll of the same institute you can see former PM E. Philippe of RE scoring way higher.

  7. Planning a preference survey four years before a Presidential election while people are collectively pissed off at the government? Then, of course, you’d get that result! Until 2027, these numbers are just that. Numbers!

Macron was re-elected because, at the time, Foreign Policy was at the top of people’s priority list because of Vladimir Putin. His opponent was Marine Le Pen, who is known for having a questionable history regarding NATO and Russia.

  8. Darmanin ??? why him he is absolutely not the favorite to represent the party ? what is this stupid poll, in 2023 and no bruno le maire nor edouard philipe

  9. Why would they put Darmanin as the Renaissance candidate, he’s the current interior minister and not particularly well liked ever by member of Renaissance from what polls I’ve seen… I would be very surprised if he tried to run or was even chosen as candidate for the party.

The former Prime Minister Edward Philippe was the obvious choice and seemed to be preparing his presidential bid for 2027. Not sure about his health however,

  10. even if it is too early to make polls and speculations for French elections, it doesn’t really gives me much confidence that next French president won’t be from one or other political extreme making waves bigger than brexit.

Hopefully between then and now there will rise someone able to win elections without counting on “anyone but Le Pen/Melechon” votes in 2nd round
