Exceeding EU target: Luxembourg’s gas consumption down 26.3%

  1. Let’s clap ourselves on our shoulders for being too budget-constrained to use more energy. Who said inflation was all about bad news ey.

  2. It was very warm. I guess gonna be a while before statistics tell us, but we probably have fewer households in large energy inefficient houses every year. Some conscious effort to save is probably a fraction of this phenomenon.

  3. I have a fairly good view of my yearly/instant gas consumption.

Fairly modern house (less than 6 years old) in France, near the border, so same climate.

This winter being milder/warmer has given us an actual 5% decrease in consumption compared to my previous best year while still maintaining the same temperature. Also I have invested in a “smart” termostat.

My guess it’s big companies that started to actively heat less (decrease temperature) and probably started to do anything in their power to reduce their consumption because of the ever growing cost of natural gas.

  4. I can’t understand why people should be happy about this, gaz is the energy of the industry. Less gas usage meaning less industry transformation, less jobs, less economy etc.
This should be seen has a bad sign.
