Hi all, hopefully this is the right place to ask. I’ll be departing from the EU in Malta. I couldn’t find too many resources regarding the VAT refund process. On the MIA website, the [airport map](https://www.maltairport.com/passenger/services/autistic-passengers/) appears to show that the customs desk for VAT refund is behind security (near departure gates. But the post office to mail out the forms are located in the check-in hall.
Is anyone familiar with the process? Does that mean I need to bring my items through security and then exit to mail my forms? I’ve tried emailing the customs office on the website but have not received a response.
Thank you!

Get a receipt from your store and bring the papers they will give you. With those two items you go to Customs at the airport and they will inspect the details and provide an envelope for your vat refund. It takes a few minutes and hopefully open 24/7. Hope it helps!
